I was a certified member of (AKOMISMO.org).I saw its cool commercial on the TV last summer vacation, and decided to sign-up for membership. I know a lot of people will join this campaign for its very unique purpose of making each Filipino do something for themselves, for someone, and more over for their country. One thing to mark the members is the so called AKOMISMO dogtag. I received a lot of email notices that was sent to certified members inviting me to come at THE FORT located in Taguig City for a special event where they will also distribute the genuine tags. But, I wasnt be able to come to claim my dog tag because I am too busy with my paperwork's in school.

A lot of people wears the said dogtag today making it a fashion statement rather living its original worth. With the confusion still in my mind, I was just asking myself:" Is it genuine?, Where did they get those?". I just figured out myself that a lot of fake tags are available today also with the same price as the genuine.

In my own point of view, tags are not really necessary for the AKOMISMO.org purpose. We just have to live the true meaning, goals, and vision of the site or the organization itself whether we are wearing those tags or not. We should always remember that action speaks louder than words. T_T

here is the article which I saw on the akomismo site.

PICTURES OF FAKE AKO MISMO DOG TAGS

Dear AKO MISMO members,

We are uploading pictures of the fake dog tags and other items like bags that are being sold by unscrupulous people who have no connection with us at AKO MISMO. The bag design was taken from one of our posters for the DOG TAG DAY event and does not have ours or our talents’ (Angel Locsin, Ely Buendia, Maxene Magalona) permission.

The fake dog tags are easy to spot as they use stickers bearing a bad copy of our logo design over a metal dog tag. Some are made of wood.

Please be warned that the only merchandise we are selling are dog tags and Team Manila Tshirts and lanyards which are currently being sold at Team Manila stores in Rockwell 2nd floor, Mall Of Asia 2nd floor, Crossings Trinoma, BelAir Makati store (146b Jupiter) and by July 15, in Trinoma 3rd floor. Team Manila will also be carrying our dog tags, both the regular and premium edition, by 2nd week of July.

Our dog tags are currently also being sold in the following outlets:

1. Mail and More outlets
2. Café Mary Grace in Serendra, Trinoma, and Ermita, and in Mary Grace kiosks in 10 major malls
3. Lobby of Two World Square building, Mckinley Hill, the Fort, Taguig

We have also authorized our beneficiary partners World Vision, Dynamic Teen Company, PLDT Smart Foundation, and Caritas Manila and DDB Cares to sell our dog tags. You may contact us to report any counterfeits you see being sold by emailing us at cctuazon@ddbphil.com. You may also contact us for fast action on your dog tag purchases at this email address.

To our members who have waited patiently for genuine dog tags to reach their locations and are still waiting patiently today, we express our deepest gratitude. We will be deploying nationwide the second batch by no later than 2nd week of July.

We ask your help to call the attention of people you know or see buying the fake dog tags. Supporting unethical and unauthorized selling activity through purchases of fake dog tags and other merchandise is simply against the principles of AKO MISMO. Sadly, it also deprives the charities and socio-civic organizations of the much needed funds we are raising through the sale of genuine dog tags.

The AKO MISMO dog tag is a symbol of our commitment to create positive change in this country. As many of you have expressed, it is not just a fashion accessory. We hope that you will help us in our crusade to stop this proliferation of fakes by telling your friends and warning everyone about the counterfeits taking advantage of our cause. Also we encourage you to partner your dog tags with your pledges on our site as a genuine gesture of your commitment to the movement.

Mga ka-mismo, tayo mismo ang magbantay ng lahat ng ating pinahahalagahan sa kilusang ito!

I'm not surprised to learn that the group's dogtags were copied for commercial motive. Anything can happen in the Philippines, a rather sad fact. They should enforce copyright laws vigorouly to clamp down disrepectful culprits. Nevertheless, AKOMISMO's mission statement is great! An excellent catalyst for Filipino youths.
